A comprehensive energy audit is one of the first steps towards a sustainable home dwelling. What exactly is it though, and why is it performed?

Blower Door Test

Air leaks into and out of a house from many different locations. Since we generally condition our living spaces, this means valuable heating or cooling energy is quite literally going out the window. A blower door test allows for an energy auditor to measure the amount of air leakage out of the home. Knowing the leakage allows them to determine whether sealing the house (decreasing the amount of air leakage) will be economically viable.
